Brave

See it if you like…

“Mulan” “Pocahontas”

It’s About

Scottish princess of the old days, Merida wants to break free of tradition has to undo a spell a witch casted that has corrupted her future.

What I’ve heard

I’ve read a lot of reviews of people saying this movie is the WORST Pixar film to date (“Worse than Cars 2” har har). I’ve heard it’s not interesting and is a dumb story and that they just play-up the whole “Scottish thing”.

What I saw

Not going to lie. The first time I heard Billy Connolly’s voice in the previews, I was determined to see it. I love his acting, I love his voice… ever since Muppet Treasure Island. But I digress.

This is very much a visual-based movie. But I can see why people are unimpressed. The story takes a wild turn about 45 minutes in where her mom is a bear… say what? Yep, a bear. I am worried that people who say it’s the worst Pixar movie are just pissy because it’s not an animated feature about personified objects.

Human interaction bores me, lets watch a rat cook soup! yay!!

Seriously though, you have to give Pixar credit for making their first female protagonist and a period piece. Not bad for their first try!

I think if you want to see a movie about a girl rebelling against tradition and kind of enjoy the Scottish heritage (I mean really, all I knew about Scots is from Braveheart, and I’m not alone), this is the movie for you!

The best/most interesting part is

This movie is under 1.5hrs so there isn’t much to choose. My favorite line is when a servant tells the dad (Billy Connelly) that she saw a bear after he’d been sniffing one out for a few minutes. He jumps in the air, throws her to the side, and screams “YES! I knew it!” and runs off. You had to be there.

Bet you didn’t even know…

True to Pixar films, the Pizza Planet truck can be seen in the witch’s den/hut/living place.

But don’t take my word for it… What’d you think?
